About St. Ann Catholic School

Welcome to St. Ann Catholic School, a fully accredited, co-educational Catholic institution serving students from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina. Nestled in the vibrant Freedom Park neighborhood, our school is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of each child within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our Campus

Built in 1955, St. Ann Catholic Elementary School is nestled just south of uptown Charlotte, serving families with faith, tradition, and academic excellence. Our two-story building welcomes more than 400 students each year, with 16 general education classrooms for Pre-K through 5th grade. The campus also includes a Modified Academic Program classroom and dedicated spaces for Enrichment and Academic Achievement small-group learning.

Students enjoy special area facilities including a bright library on the upper level and an inspiring art studio on the lower level. The Hillside Avenue entrance was recently renovated, expanding the front office and reception area to include administrative offices, a conference room, guidance room, and a dedicated health room.

In summer 2025, St. Ann completed major renovations throughout the school building—renewing classrooms, learning spaces, and common areas to support our mission of nurturing hearts, minds, and spirits in a Christ-centered community.

Our Security

At St. Ann Catholic School safety and security of our students and staff are foremost. We understand the importance of maintaining a secure environment in which our community members can thrive, both academically and spiritually. That's why we have implemented state-of-the-art security measures, including closed-circuit cameras strategically placed throughout the campus, ensuring constant vigilance and monitoring.

In partnership with Praelio Security and Risk Management, following security protocols for all MACS schools, St. Ann has developed a comprehensive security protocol tailored to the unique needs of our school. This protocol includes the regular presence of Praelio Security personnel on site.

Practice drills are conducted regularly to ensure that our students and staff are well-prepared to respond effectively in the event of an emergency. These drills not only serve as practical training exercises, but also reinforce the importance of vigilance and preparedness in maintaining a safe and secure environment.

At St. Ann Catholic School we recognize the delicate balance between preserving our rich Catholic culture and the Saint Ann Way while also ensuring the safety of our community. Through our partnership with Praelio, we strive to uphold this balance, providing a nurturing and secure environment in which our students can flourish academically and spiritually.

Academic Excellence and Faith Formation

Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire students, blending rigorous academics with strong faith formation. Students engage in a variety of subjects, including:

  • Religion: Deepening their understanding of Catholic teachings and values.

  • Literacy and Mathematics: Building foundational skills for lifelong learning.

  • Science and Social Studies: Exploring the world around them through inquiry and discovery.

  • Fine Arts and Physical Education: Encouraging creativity and healthy living.

We also offer special learning programs to support students with enhanced academic needs, ensuring that all learners can thrive.
